Overview

Neurosurgical Focus covers a different topic in-depth each month. Enhanced by color images and video clips, each peer-reviewed issue constitutes a state-of-the-art “textbook chapter” in the field of neurosurgery.

While Neurosurgical Focus is open-access and has been free to the public since 1996, claiming CME credit is free only for AANS members.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this CME activity, participants should be able to:

Describe neurological disorders that might be treatable using neural interface technologies, and the potential for patients who have no other therapeutic options to have greater functional independence and improved quality of life.
Discuss cutting-edge platforms and recent technical developments in restorative neurosurgery, including hardware, software, electrodes, encoding/decoding techniques, and clinical strategies.
Identify novel approaches to interfacing with nervous system and how many different disciplines contribute to advances in this field.
Review the potential of advanced technology to restore function after neurological disease or injury.
