NSF March 2026: Complications of Spine Surgery, Volume 60, Issue 3
Overview
Neurosurgical Focus covers a different topic in-depth each month. Enhanced by color images and video clips, each peer-reviewed issue constitutes a state-of-the-art “textbook chapter” in the field of neurosurgery.

While Neurosurgical Focus is open-access and has been free to the public since 1996, claiming CME credit is free only for AANS members.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this CME activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe both unexpected and expected complications arising from spine surgery.
  • Identify the unintended ramifications that may arise from complications.
  • Discuss management strategies for avoidance or reducing harm from complications. 
  • Describe complications that occur even in the best of hands, and that best strategy is honesty, transparency and integrity.
