Neurosurgical Focus covers a different topic in-depth each month. Enhanced by color images and video clips, each peer-reviewed issue constitutes a state-of-the-art “textbook chapter” in the field of neurosurgery.
While Neurosurgical Focus is open-access and has been free to the public since 1996, claiming CME credit is free only for AANS members.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this CME activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the technical nuances of surgery on complex craniopharyngiomas with a focus on all approaches including endonasal and transcranial.
- Explain the anatomical relationship between the tumor and critical neurovascular structures and how to achieve the best outcomes while minimizing complications.
- Discuss different approaches to craniopharyngiomas, including combined approaches in both pediatric and adult populations, and the optimal way to maximize resection and decrease postoperative neurological deficits.
- Describe the complexity of surgery on craniopharyngiomas, critical anatomical structures to preserve, and potential intraoperative complications.
